- pick hammer – motorized or electric: tireless activity, repetitive movements and penetration symbolizes intercourse.
- repeated movement of the hammer and the pounding of nails: clear allegory of intercourse.
- joining a material or things by hammering: relations linked by sexuality (a lover or wife or husband is accompanied by their world, relationships and their problems).
- loosening e.g. a stiff joint: represents the dreamer's will dealing with a past relationship so that, like disassembled parts, it is cleaned, lubricated and reconnected in an already functioning relationship.
- used in riveting: the dreamer willfully enters the world of relations and emotions since even the originally instinctual shape of the rivet changes with the hammer's blow into an inseparable connection (a stable relationship).
- as a tool of destruction: the nature of this activity is only determined by the object or unit destroyed by the hammer; yet usually the destruction of symbols in dreams is positive since it thus confirms the emptying of the mind which leads everyone to peace and tranquility.
- in the higher sense the hammer is a tool of a strong will in relation to instinctual symbols – a will by which we are trying to change our lives.
