- the prey is an animal: partly a positive dream since the dreamer at least for some time eliminates part of his instinctual essence (killing animals) or assimilates it (taming animals).
- the prey are people: the same meaning as hunting animals since people who are prey represent, like animals, instinctual personifications.
- the prey is the dreamer: a very negative dream since it puts the dreamer on the level of animals, on the level of the instinctual nature.
