The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Boiler

  • symbolizes the dreamer's inner content and we can recognize an allegory of mystic transformations in the images of the dynamic processes within the boiler.
  • cold, disconnected: a chance to start momentous changes within one's psyche.
  • lighting, turning on, starting: the dreamer has started a positive and very important process within his psyche.
  • slaughter house boiler; full of meat etc.: symbolizes the dreamer's attempt to transform sexual desire within.
  • large, open: along with the content it symbolizes sexuality and, based on the process taking place within the boiler, we can tell which activity the dreamer has initiated in his waking consciousness through focus, concentration and attentiveness.
  • of a steam locomotive: concentration directed inward is helping the dreamer start down an interesting life path.
  • in the later phase of spiritual development it is important that the boiler does not go out since the fire within is an allegory of the inner flame ignited in the spiritual heart (for more on the ignited flame in the spiritual heart see the Self archetype).
  • high-pressure: with increased positive effects on the state of the dreamer's being there also comes the threat that can be faced with attentiveness and awareness by which the dreamer abandons life "on autopilot."*44
  • as a reservoir of hot water: represents in the unconscious the inner strength available to the dreamer.
  • broken: exhaustion or impending mild illness; after a short period of rest and calm the required inner strength returns to the dreamer.
