The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Biting

  • an animal bites or tries to bite the dreamer: instincts threaten the current mindset and are the greatest danger for an emotional experience of the dreamer's current relationships (see individual animals); it is important for smooth spiritual development that the dreamer does not use any force or hidden (e.g. magical) abilities against biting animals so as to best achieve compassion in these images for the attacking animals (instincts) in knowing that their attacks are rooted in fear and ignorance, and thereby definitively blunting the animals' sharp teeth and rendering any future biting a short painless clench.
  • animal bites: might consequently indicate jealousy in waking consciousness since jealousy is a clash of an instinctual personification in the fight for the "sweetest part of the cake of sensuality."
  • insect bite: insect-personified intrusive thoughts do not necessarily have a negative impact since a positive change in behavior and conduct can follow the stinging pain.
  • biting food: relates to sexuality, an allegory of intercourse in which the phallic teeth penetrate soft material (the woman); the sexual nature is intensified by biting into meat and meat products; this image bears with it sadomasochistic elements arising from within (the Basic Perinatal Matrix tells of the creation of this).
  • a person biting or attempting to bite in self-defense: awoken animal instincts, the self-preservation instinct.
  • a person biting or attempting to bite: despite the pain and sometimes even frightfulness, biting can be an act of love (I will eat you out of love, the desire to be eaten out of love); hidden sadistic (biting another) and masochistic (being bitten by another) experiences, arising from the dreamer's psychological nature (see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype), enter his consciousness through these images.
  • biting through something: an allegory of overcoming a problem, whose nature fully captures the meaning of the object bitten through.
  • a child biting or attempting to bite: a subconscious desire to be devoured by the element that symbolizes the unification of instinctual antithetical components of the human psyche; in the beginning these images produce a panic-stricken fear in the dreamer, though later he experiences them as a game to ultimately reach the experience of unity on an emotional level.
