The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Room

  • the room's content is that of the mind.
  • putting a child in the middle of a room: the dreamer's attempt at fully obtaining the emotional level.
  • secret: the dreamer can discover here his own spiritual anima or spiritual animus.
  • forbidden: a place in which the negative part of the dreamer's soul – his shadow – is hidden; see the Shadow archetype.
  • safety, peace and harmony in closed rooms: clearly the dreamer's prenatal memory of the initial phase of the prenatal process – of being in his mother's womb (see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype).
  • vaulted: symbolizes birth canals or the womb (see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype).
  • collapsing room, with cracking walls, moving floor etc.: uncontrolled process of the antenatal and birth experiences in the subconscious mind; see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype.
  • unpleasant feelings and threats in enclosed rooms: in most cases this is an allegory of the womb during contractions; i.e. a recollection of the drama of birth with which everyone's consciousness is psychologically imprinted; the only question is when this content will emerge from within; the Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype describes the entire process.
  • cruel, absurd and senseless violence in enclosed rooms: usually consists of a subconscious memory of the birth process and, particularly, its second part in which, through "crazy" visions, it brings to mind the senselessness and absurdity of human existence and also mixes with ideas of the absurd farce of the world; this dream experience should be understood since it could create unpleasant psychological blocks (see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype).
  • flooded: symbolizes birth canals or the womb or the womb; the water is synonymous with amniotic fluid; see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype.
  • waste or a scrapheap in the middle of a room: symbolizes biological waste in the birth canal; see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype.
  • revealing the dreamer in an enclosed room: a very frequent image of the Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype; such a dream tries to lead the dreamer through the difficult process of subconscious recollections of prenatal and birth experiences that form everyone's consciousness; only upon controlling the emotional pressures of these experiences can a person smoothly continue the process of self-knowledge.
  • a throng of people in the room: this image symbolizes the dreamer's materialistic focus and instinctual desires, since the emotional level is sparsely populated and the spiritual plane is almost untouched by human presence.
  • ventilating a smoky room: the dreamer is actively working to rid himself of his smoking addiction.
  • a candlelit room: futile attempt at casting light on a problem bothering the dreamer.
  • shapes of rooms: see individual shapes, but only if the dreamer notices them and takes an interest in them directly in dreams.
  • the arrangement of rooms and their meaning: see House.
  • painting rooms: an attempt at changing the mind's content – see the color in question.
  • without furniture: a very positive dream that attests to the dreamer's successful attempt to empty his mind (e.g. in meditation).
  • whitewashing: an active attempt at changing the state of mind, an attempt at purity which is linked to light, knowledge and wisdom.
