The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Trash

  • means property, but also a mind of clutter, which is a considerable obstacle to a full emotional or spiritual life.
  • gathering: the meaning depends on what we want to do with the trash (hoard it or get rid of it).
  • hoarding: this image can lead the dreamer to material property but also to long-term repression of emotional and spiritual images from the mind.
  • getting rid of the trash (giving to others, dumping it in dumpsters, putting it in the dump): the dreamer is ridding himself of excessive contents of the mind and freeing space in his consciousness for emotional and later spiritual experiences.
  • a street or path littered with trash: a path toward material wealth, but also a deviation from emotional and spiritual experiences.
  • someone throws trash at the dreamer: the reaction of the instinctual animus to the fact that the dreamer has rid himself of unnecessary thoughts (trash).
  • a pile of trash in the middle of a room, corridors, shafts, elevators, sewers, culverts etc.: symbolizes biological waste in the birth canal; see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype.
  • bottles among the trash: confirmation of the dreamer's direction toward the emotional and spiritual level; the dreamer is eliminating from his mind a very strong sexual symbol.
  • separating the trash: relinquishing temptations of the material world in favor of emotional and spiritual experiences; a very positive image since such processed waste does not return like a boomerang to the dreamer.
