The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Turning

  • of a means of transportation: symbolizes a slower path to knowledge since some experiences from the past need to be remembered; frequent turning around of transportation in dreams attests to low self-confidence which causes problems not only for the dreamer.
  • in a one-way street: the dreamer should not return to images of the past, but should continue straight ahead.
  • someone turns his back on the dreamer: the dreamer will not be able to count on the help of this person or of his traits that this personified person represents in the unconscious and in dreams.
  • a carousel or similar attraction: see Carousel.
  • in a circle (see Circle), rotating objects (usually cylinders, wheels, circles, spheres) or people: represent karma*26 and all factors maintaining a being in the cycle of reincarnation*75 (time, space, fate, antitheses); dizziness often occurs on the outer perimeter due to the turning speed; the "timeless" point is located in the very center, where all ideas collapse, the breaking point, from which everything can be viewed only in absolute unity without antitheses.
  • dizziness from turning: the result of a misunderstanding of karma and of all factors that keep a being in the cycle of rebirth (time, space, fate, antitheses).
  • a turning circular saw: reminds the dreamer that life is full of changes and reversals; he can be at one time on top and then at the bottom (the saw's teeth); it is important to realize that these changes constantly repeat in many incarnations (like a circular saw's blade turns around and around).
  • turning carousel: symbolizes constantly changing life conditions.
  • rotating around an axis: depicts constantly changing life conditions that make one dizzy; only through the gradual unification of antitheses that life contains can we get close to the axis of the rotation where the world no longer turns madly, and in the very center of the axis we find stillness, tranquility, peace and then even knowledge and liberation.
  • turning head: foretells of a changed state of consciousness (beware: the change of state of consciousness can lead the dreamer not only to higher worlds, but also to worlds full of suffering and pain).
  • drafting beer: see Beer.
  • shooting a film: see Film.
  • spiraling stairs: see Spiral.
