The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Collecting

  • lentils or other small objects: this scene urges the dreamer to be patient.
  • mushrooms: see Fungi (not wood-decay fungi).
  • Strawberries: see Strawberry.
  • brushwood, wood from the forest: the dreamer's increasing potency will soon seek to be discharged.
  • trash: see Trash.
  • things at a landfill: this image can lead the dreamer to material property but also to long-term repression of emotional and spiritual images from the mind.
  • paper (in the sense of cleaning it up), sorting, putting it in the recycling container: attests to the dreamer's attempt to take hold of, sort and process the instinctual content of his mind and elevate his own experience to at least the emotional level.
  • tin: see Tin.
  • art objects, paintings and sculptures of saints, coins, postage stamps etc.: see Collector.
  • gleaning: see Gleaning.
  • a cane, stick, pen, pencil and other such objects (especially in the dreams of women): the possibility or desire to establish a romantic relationship.
  • vessels, vases and other hollow objects (especially in the dreams of men): the possibility or desire to establish a romantic relationship.
  • taxes: see Taxes.
  • the trash: the dreamer does not make use of the chance to throw away unwanted content of the mind (the basket can only contain that which the dreamer has already once thrown away) and is once again burdened with everything that he picks out of the wastebasket.
  • water: the dreamer is mainly interested in emotions; the purity of the water shows the quality of the emotions.
  • money (rent, penalties, fees, contributions etc.): financial loss.
  • picking raisins out of a pastry: this image symbolizes the desire for advantages.
  • clothes: an attempt at strengthening the personality (for more on the negative role of the personality see the Persona archetype); see Clothes.
  • cesspool: in the extent of filth and impurities the unconscious shows the dreamer the amount of cleansing that the dreamer will have to undertake in the near future.
