The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Barrel

  • as a hollow object it symbolizes a woman and the content, appearance and possible cleanliness of the vessels specifies the sexual relationships.
  • being closed in a barrel: a prenatal memory of the second phase of the birth process in which the fetus is inside the womb and still does not see a chance to escape; if an external threat is also in the image then it symbolizes the perception of contractions; see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype.
  • putting something in a barrel, filling it: a clear symbolic representation of sex.
  • water in a barrel: the desire for a pure relationship.
  • the symbol's interpretation depends mainly on the barrel's content and on the material that the barrel is made out of.
  • hoop on a barrel: foretells of new friendships or other emotional bonds; if the dreamer is already aware in the dream of its round shape, even if it is deformed, then see Circle.
  • empty barrels: symbolizes already processed inner content that has reached the surface of daily life.
  • tapping a keg of beer or seeing a keg tapped: the dreamer will deal with new contents arising from within (beer subliminally strengthens his ego and also relates to sexuality) and thus hard work awaits him; see Beer.
