The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Snow

  • among the most frequent dream spiritual symbols.
  • land of eternal snow and ice (high mountains, Antarctica, Arctic): the closest semblance to the spiritual world in which there are no smells, and colors lose their meaning; a world in which we do not need any dream objects, in which all emotional experiences lose their meaning since white spiritual purity becomes the only content of virginal consciousness.
  • the edge of ice and snow: usually appears when climbing mountains; nothing instinctual or emotional survives it.
  • shapes of snowflakes: an inexhaustible supply of the many shapes of the mandala*21.
  • collapsing into snow: life problems that begin slowly and burden expected spiritual development.
  • skiing on snow: symbolizes the dreamer's ability to move in a spiritual environment (snow and ice) and to perceive the experiences of this level; such perceptions are often only subconscious and more express uplifting and liberating feelings (peace and calm, forgiveness, selfless love, compassion) from waking consciousness, without a person being able to realize the spiritual level of these experiences (these dreams are accompanied by relaxedness, joy and playfulness); see Skis, skiing.
  • finding toys in the snow: very positive since the symbols of such toys (control of their essence) link the dreamer to the spiritual realm.
  • an apple, pear, cherry or sour cherry in snow or ice: due to a completely different mindset (spiritual) a romantic or partner relationship cannot be currently established.
  • children in connection with ice, snow or frost: in most cases the spiritual animus or spiritual anima.
  • building a dam of ice and snow (usually with children): the dreamer is on the border between the emotional and spiritual levels and is able to deliberately hold back and release feelings (the water from the dam).
  • cutting a hole in ice or frozen snow: after entering the spiritual realm there is a need to destroy the border between the spiritual and emotional level; children as a symbol of unification often help this so that the transition between the kingdom of ice and snow (spiritual level) and water (emotional level) is smooth.
  • the water's surface inconsistently covered by snow and ice floes: clash of the spiritual level with the emotional level.
  • rain turns into snow: transition from emotional perception to the spiritual is positive for the dreamer's spiritual endeavors.
  • snow turns into rain: transition from spiritual to the emotional is a step backwards on the spiritual path.
  • wet snow: feelings degrade a spiritual symbol.
  • a sidewalk covered with snow or ice: a path toward spiritual principles; the inability to maintain a spiritual mindset appears in dreams as a fall on a slippery sidewalk.
  • snow-covered forest: a clash of spiritual experience with the instinctual essence of the forest, temporary deadening of animalistic inclinations.
  • shoveling snow: the desire to deal with spiritual ideals, but the shovel needs to be set aside on the path to deeper experiences.
  • snowballs: symbolize ideas that concern neither the material world nor emotions, but belong to spiritual ideals; therefore when throwing snowballs irritates a person, he is in fact refusing to accept the spiritual level.
  • someone throws snowballs at the dreamer: the unconscious is advising you to forget about reason and logic and to become a child in the sense of Christ's statement: "I assure you, if you don't change and become like children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:3), which is why it is good when children are attracted to snowball throwing or when the dreamer throws snowballs with children.
  • getting hit in the head with a snowball: a temporary exchange of materialistic thoughts for spiritual ones.
  • a castle made of ice and snow: symbolizes the spiritual content of the consciousness, though in unhealthy isolation from the rest of the world since we must open our heart with the spiritual content of the consciousness and recognize with compassion all the states that we have left in ascending to the spiritual level.
  • snow slides: see Slide.
  • blizzard, snowstorm: although these images can be a source of fear and anxiety for one's life, they are in the unconscious a genuine blessing of the Spirit.
  • a snow house: see Igloo.
  • courtyards or town squares covered with snow or (ice): a very important moment of visiting the spiritual level.
  • snow avalanche: symbolizes a chain of events and of inner experiences of a spiritual nature; based on the effects of the avalanche the dreamer can recognize the positive impact on his mindset (e.g. the elimination of instinctual symbols); a snow avalanche is unfortunate for an instinctual person, for an emotional person it can be fortunate; for a spiritual person it is a blessing.
  • a church made of ice and snow or covered with snow: one of the symbols of the spiritual level and of firm belief in the spiritual essence of people.
