*92 Orphic mysteries

*92 Orphic mysteries have their roots in older Eleusinian mysteries and were created as a philosophical-religious movement around the 6th century BC. An important part of Orphism was vegetarianism and ascetic practices representing a means of ensuring an afterlife. The sacred writings of Orphism are the Rhapsodic Theogony, attributed to Orpheus, of which 24 fragments have been preserved.
