*99 Bodhidharma (from Sanscrit) is composed of two words: Bodhi is "perfect wisdom" and dharma is a verb meaning "maintaining" or "supporting" and in general also means Buddha's teachings. Loosely speaking, Bodhidharma is "a view of the world supported by perfect wisdom."
