The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Cards

  • bank, payment: see Payment Card.
  • playing cards and watching a card game: only the instinctual component of the human soul lowers itself to a card game in dreams; the dreamer should realize that the cards in his hand depict his fate that cannot be willfully changed.
  • people playing cards together: they are deepening their mutual relations, even if usually this is only on the instinctual level.
  • if we refuse to play cards with someone, we do not want to continue sharing our life with them (this image often shows the definitive culmination of a breakup).
  • intrigued by a card game: shows how a player is desirous of the world and sensual experiences.
  • unknown: unknown fate:
  • jokers: the dreamer overly relies on good fortune that could ease his fate.
  • seeing others' cards: the dreamer is able to view others' fates and guess the course of future events in their lives.
  • winning: a dream victory demobilizes the powers in the dreamer; therefore an upcoming defeat can be expected in the same or similar game, or in the realm that this game represents in the unconscious.
  • losing: a dream defeat mobilizes the powers in the dreamer; therefore an upcoming victory can be expected in the same or similar game, or in the realm that this game represents in the unconscious.
  • tarot: they have a completely different meaning from ordinary playing cards since they relate to internal processes.
