Catastrophe

  • frequent catastrophes in dreams are the result of a change in worldview and the abandoning of past attitudes, and since a very complicated process is thus initiated I recommend reading the Apocalypse archetype.
  • evokes in the dreamer the hero ability (see Hero archetype) and consequently leads the dreamer toward positive ideals and the Shadow archetype.
  • environmental: visions of environmental catastrophes and the painful devastation of nature are a frequent image in dreams since they essentially concern the environment in which the dreamer lives as well as the inner world that leads him to an understanding of his role in the world (see Apocalypse archetype).
  • any catastrophe can be a vision of future events; see Past and Future Visions archetype.
