Bars

  • of a cell, prison: see Prison, prisoner.
  • often accompany experiences of prenatal memories when the dreamer is separated from dangerous phenomena that are synonymous with the threatening aspects of the various birth phases (see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype).
  • of doors or gateways (especially if it is decorated): symbolizes the hymen of female genitalia.
  • of a window: since a house is synonymous with the body and every opening is synonymous with body orifices, windows then often depict the mouth, and the bars draw the dreamer's attention to the need to filter spoken words; the unconscious uses this image to advise the dreamer to better consider his words and not to give way to hate.
  • bars separating from invaders in an enclosed building: a prenatal memory of the second phase of the birth process in which the fetus is threatened by the outside world and still does not see a chance to escape (see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype).
  • a person that forcefully gets past the bars: always the instinctual animus (instinctual anima).
  • pointed bars: often a prenatal memory – the mouth of the fallopian tube is "covered" with elongated growths of hairy and mucus forming cells by the fallopian tube and with lining on the womb's side which is displayed in a simplified manner by the unconscious as ventilation shafts secured by steel bars (see Basic Perinatal Matrix archetype).
  • recognizing in the bars the symbol of the cross: a very important transformation of a restricting and separating symbol of the bars toward the freedom of the spirit (see Cross).
  • bars are not an obstacle for emotional or even spiritual personifications.
