The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Tidying up

  • an attempt to clean up a mess is synonymous with the cleansing of oneself of various negative traits and various dependencies (relates to the cleansing of the personality and ego – see Persona archetype – and to individuality – see Individuality archetype).

  • a superior maintaining peace and order: conscious inner desire for the purity of one's soul, for peace and calm in the soul.

  • in a bedroom: moves future experiences closer to the emotional level; mental cleaning in one's life.

  • a forest: a very positive image that symbolizes the gradual processing and elimination of the mind's instinctual content.
  • leaves (raking): the subconscious desire to heap together and understand all viewed images of transience in one's worldview; we need to be very careful since the handle and lower part of the rake (claws) have a clear phallic and sexual subtext.
  • clothes and putting clothes into a wardrobe: an attempt to eliminate the superficiality of the personality and to find a non-egotistical state that will not manipulate the dreamer's consciousness; this image is often accompanied by unification symbols (e.g. children) or symbols of the emotional level.
  • a refrigerator, freezer: the dreamer is trying to clean his mind of unnecessary content and longs to eliminate the power of instinctual symbols over his consciousness (emotional and spiritual).
  • sand: a very positive image since it documents the dreamer's attempt to work with the instinctual content of his own psyche.
  • pillows: ending one of your life stages.
  • corpses: this grim picture expresses one of the largest positive shifts in the self-improvement process.

  • manure: one of the most natural images of moral cleansing; the similarity with Heracles cleaning the Augean stables is no coincidence (see Hero archetype).
